Artist, Charlotte Catlett Gerlach
Charlotte, a native of Richmond, Virginia,
relocated to West Virginia with her husband, John, and their three children, Deborah, Philip, & Thomas, in
1974. Charlotte's Studio, located in scenic Lost Creek, is where she creates
and markets her original oil paintings, limited edition prints, original graphics, and provides custom
framing. A professional, self-taught artist, her work has earned numerous
awards and has received recognition on a national level for her commissioned
work. Charlotte's work is widely published. She has generously contributed
her talent and works to causes close to her heart such as People's Hospice
and the American Lung Association and Duck's Unlimited, West Virginia Health
Right, Inc., Clarksburg Historic Society. Charlotte's work can be seen throughout WV in various State Parks gift shops and select galleries.
Charlotte's work is also on display to the public in Washington, DC., in
connection with fine art paintings that she was commissioned to paint for
prestigious real-estate developers.
Charlotte, best known for her photo realistic
detail, is able to maintain a fine balance between the technical and the
emotional aspect of her subjects throughout each and every piece. Her style
touches both children and adults. Working in a preferred medium of oils or pen and
ink, extensive research goes into each of her pieces, ranging from
sketching, painting, and photography on location to obtaining specimens from
the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources.
